Covid-19 Safety
There are several steps that we are taking to protect our students and ourselves. Our classes are limited to an amount of students that allow 6-8 feet of distance from each other at each location. We request that students stay on their own mat and do not enter each other’s space during the class.
In accordance with CDPHE Guidance and SJBPH Guidance, we will be cleaning the mats with an appropriate strength sanitizer spray after every class. Then we will be rolling them up for the next class, using gloves to ensure cleanliness. This will ensure clean, dry, safe mats for students to use at the next class. Parents may clean the mats before class if they wish, also. We will also supply hand sanitizer for students, parents and staff to use before and after class. Sanitizer will be available at the sign in station and near the teacher’s mat. We will have appropriate Covid related signage at the sign in station. Our staff will take and record their temperature and monitor symptoms for every in person class. We ask that parents or guardians monitor their children for temperature changes and symptoms for the in person children’s classes, and adults monitor themselves for the same during in person adult classes. It will also help if parents can use contactless payment solutions like Venmo, arranged ahead of time.
In one case we will exceed the guidance laid out by the state and local public health. We are requesting that yoga students wear masks during our classes, for both indoor and outdoor classes. Our reasoning is simple, that sometimes during our classes, we breath harder in exercise or laugh loudly, and even being in airy spaces, we do not want students or staff to be exposed to another’s possible covid infection. Our staff will be wearing masks whenever they are off the mats and helping others, and will wear masks when possible on their mat (our exception is if the teacher is not able to give clear instructions while wearing a mask). If our community changes our public health covid status or new studies come to light about the use of masks, we will review this decision.
We have a health and student information waiver that we would like every in person student to have filled out. It is available at http://www.balancingyogadurango.com/waiver. This ensures that the student and parent or guardian is aware of our stance on safety issues that pertain to our classes, as well as provides important information for our staff. Thank you for filling it out ahead of time or filling it out on paper at our classes. Because of this and other safety items, and the time to make sure everything is done safely, please arrive at the classes 10 minutes ahead of schedule.
Even if you are taking an online class with us, we request that you fill out the waiver cited above. This just allows us to have a bit of information about your student, and may help guide our staff in the choices of activities and/or yoga poses for that class.
General Safety
In general, yoga is a safe sport for your children. Yoga will incorporate some strength moves, some muscle building, some balance practice, and a lot of stretching. It is not unheard of to feel a bit sore after a yoga class from the stretching, but that soreness should go away quickly. Your teacher will be watching and giving direction to students on their yoga poses, and if they have masks on they will approach and give hands on guidance. One direction that they will give each class is to stay on their mat. That should limit the amount of movement near others that could cause accidents. It also is one of our covid safety steps, so I will be asking students that can’t stay on their mats to move to a safe location with their parent/guardian to get their energy out. If you think that your child may need this type of mid-yoga break, then please stick around to help (or bring your kid extra early to get that energy out before class!).
We look forward to working with you and your child or children at Balancing Yoga Durango, LLC. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us by phone or email, or talk to the teacher in person before or after a class.
